How to get to Sapporo

Sapporo is quite far from Tokyo and therefore the plane is a quick way to get there. The one way flight Narita-Sapporo takes about 90 minutes and a ticket costs 36000 Yen, but you can often find offers for 10000 Yen.

With low-cost airlines it comes to 5000 Yen.

The airport is located in Chitose, to reach the city you can take a JR train which takes 37 minutes and costs 1150 Yen.

Shinkansen + JR Ltd. Express Hokuto

From Tokyo, take the Shinkansen (reserved seats only) on the Tohoku line to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto (4 hours 20 minutes).

From here you take the JR Limited Express Super Hokuto train to Sapporo (3 hours 25 minutes). The total cost is 27500 yen.

These trains are included in the Japan Rail Pass.
