Expo 2025 Osaka

Expo 2025, also known as the World’s Fair, is a major global showcase that provides participating countries with an extraordinary opportunity to express their innovations, culture and potential, transforming the event into a crucial meeting point for international dialogue, trade and public education on topics of universal significance. The next edition of this event will feature the city of Osaka, which will welcome people from all over the world from 13 April to 13 October 2025.

The choice of Osaka is not random; the city is known for its advanced technology, rich cultural tradition and economic dynamism. All these aspects will provide an outstanding backdrop for Expo 2025, whose theme will be ‘Designing the Society of the Future, Imagining our Life Tomorrow’. This theme is directly inspired by crucial issues such as sustainable development, climate change and the well-being of the global community in the context of technological innovation, inspiring participants and visitors to reflect on the future of our planet and the legacy we will leave to the next generations.

Visitors to Expo 2025 can expect national and corporate pavilions that explore solutions to the grand challenges of our time through the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and biotechnology. For example, there could be exhibitions on how AI can contribute to disease prevention, or demonstrations of advanced robots capable of assisting the elderly or operating in hazardous environments.

In keeping with the tradition of previous World Expos, Expo 2025 will also be tasked with stimulating creativity and international cooperation, serving as a platform for sharing scientific and technological advances that can lead to concrete, globally shared solutions. Japan wants Expo 2025 to be an incubator for ideas that can shape an equitable and sustainable future.

The Osaka Expo is also expected to be exceptional in its approach to environmental sustainability. Pavilion designs will focus on the use of environmentally friendly materials and the use of renewable energy, and there will be a strong emphasis on the concepts of reuse and recycling, so as to leave a very low environmental impact post-event.

In addition to the educational and informative aspects, the Expo will be accompanied by a myriad of cultural experiences, allowing participants and visitors to immerse themselves in Japanese culture through food, art, music and traditional and contemporary performances. The layout of the Expo will be designed to facilitate cultural encounters and mutual understanding between peoples, Japan’s celebrated principle of ‘omotenashi’, or friendliness and hospitality.

Millions of visitors are expected to converge on Osaka for Expo 2025, and the city is already buzzing with preparations for infrastructural improvements, including increased accessibility for public transport and the construction of new hotels and accommodation facilities, with a focus on accessibility for all and inclusivity.
