Sapporo
Sapporo is the largest and liveliest city on the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan. This modern, cosmopolitan city is famous for its rich gastronomic culture, ranging from local specialities to fine international dishes. Sapporo is also renowned for its seasonal festivals, such as the famous Sapporo Snow Festival, which attracts tourists from all over the world.
This city also offers many other attractions, such as the historic Nijo market, the enchanting Moerenuma Park and the Hokkaido Museum. Sapporo is also a great starting point for hiking and outdoor activities, such as skiing and trekking in the nearby Daisetsuzan National Park.
Sapporo became world famous in 1972 when the Winter Olympics were held there. Today, the city is famous for its ramen, beer and the annual snow festival held in February.
