Okinawa
The prefecture of Okinawa is located in Japan, consisting of the Ryukyu Islands. Known as ‘the gateway to the tropical islands’, Okinawa is famous for its beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, subtropical climate and the unique culture of its inhabitants, influenced by Japanese, Chinese and American traditions.
The prefecture is home to numerous tourist attractions, including Shuri Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Okinawa National Park, which offers parks and nature reserves. The islands of Miyako and Ishigaki are particularly popular for their coral reefs and snorkelling.
The traditional Okinawan cuisine and music are another major attraction. Festivals held throughout the year are an opportunity to fully appreciate the rich local culture.
